KIA NBA Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard chooses LifeWorks NW as recipient of new 2014 KIA Sorento

May 3, 2013

May 3, 2013 – Moments after being named the 2012-13 KIA NBA Rookie of the Year, Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard announced that KIA would be donating a KIA Sorento LX SUV to LifeWorks NW at his request.  The car will be used by Project Network a residential treatment facility for predominately African American women suffering from addiction, and their children.   “We are so honored to accept this incredible gift from Mr. Lillard," said Mary Monnat, President and CEO of LifeWorks NW.  "Clearly Damian is an amazing young man both on and off the court. The women and children at Project Network will be helped tremendously by having a reliable vehicle to help them get to appointments and meetings," said Monnat.   Established in 1989, Project Network helps chemically addicted, pregnant women end the cycle of substance abuse.  The program provides quality, culturally-based clinical and social services to African-American women and their families, serving approximately 75 women and 150 infants and children annually.   Founded in 1961 and based in Portland, Oregon with clinics and service centers throughout Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas Counties, LifeWorks NW is a non-profit agency, which provides mental health, addiction and related social services for a healthy community.  The agency depends on community support and private funding to provide results-driven support services for children and families, adults and older adults.  For more information or to set up an interview, please contact Sue Lyon-Myrick, Marketing Coordinator, at 503.617.3851.
