Kartini Clinic Partners With Portland Healthcare IT Startup ReelDx To Produce Instructive Webinar Series On Pediatric Eating Disorder Cases

The first pilot case, which will debut on January 6, describes early identification, diagnosis and treatment for a 15-year-old girl with restrictive anorexia

PORTLAND, OR – January 5, 2016 – Internationally recognized pediatric eating disorder treatment facility Kartini Clinic today announced the launch of a new series of instructive webinars on pediatric eating disorder treatment produced in partnership with ReelDx, according to Kartini Clinic CEO Morgan O’Toole.

“We’re very excited to partner with ReelDx to create an invaluable online resource for the study and treatment of pediatric eating disorders,” O’Toole said. “This will be the first of its kind and our intention is to provide a deep library of cases that will help doctors, patients and families alike.”

The first of this series focuses a 15-year-old girl patient presenting with severely disordered food intake and activity. The webinar will outline the medical history, physical exam, diagnosis and treatment of the patient and will be conducted by a panel of experts, including Kartini Clinic founder and chief medical officer Julie

O’Toole, MD, MPH CEDS; and Bruce Birk, MD, of Pediatric Associates, Portland, who will narrate the webinar.

“Early identification is key to the successful treatment of childhood eating disorders,” O’Toole said. “Yet there are many challenges to diagnosing, treating and educating patients/parents/clinicians about pediatric eating disorders. Referral to appropriate care is a critical need.”

This inaugural case study, authored Kartini Clinic medical director Naghmeh Moshtael, MD, CEDS, will be the first of approximately 20 case studies to reside in an online library of video resources hosted by ReelDx, to provide a cloud-based, HIPAA compliant, pay-per-view library for providers, patients and families. These videos will make vivid the many ways in which eating disorders present, arming providers and parents with knowledge to recognize and take appropriate action for eating disorders in children.
