Kaiser Permanente to open dental office at Valley River Plaza

September 2, 2015

Eugene, Ore., Sep. 2, 2015 – Kaiser Permanente will be opening a dental office at Valley River Plaza off Delta Highway in Eugene early next year. Valley River Dental Office, at 1101 Valley River Way, will be a few miles from Kaiser Permanente’s primary care medical office at Olive and 13th, slated to open in January 2016.

“We are excited to increase access to high-quality, affordable dental care in Lane County,” said Kenneth Wright, DMD, MPH, vice president of Dental Care Services for Kaiser Permanente. “Our dentists work closely with our medical teams, central to our integrated health care philosophy. We look forward to sharing our prevention-focused approach to total health and wellness with the community.”

This is Kaiser Permanente’s first dental office in Lane County. The 5,500-square-foot facility will offer a full scope of general dentistry procedures and preventive services for Kaiser Permanente members, including:
·        Dental exams and cleanings.
·        Preventive treatments such as fluoride varnishes and dental sealants.
·        Oral health education and home care guidance.
·        Restorative treatments such as fillings and crowns.
·        Provision of implant restorations.

Oral health is critical to overall health and wellness. Gum disease has been linked to several illnesses, including heart disease and diabetes. “Good dental health plays an important role in our lives and we feel privileged to help provide preventive care for the community,” said Dr. Wright.

As part of a funding collaborative, Kaiser Permanente has provided a three-year grant for the White Bird Clinic in Eugene to provide school-based dental care for Lane County students. In addition, Kaiser Permanente has partnered with the South Lane Children’s Dental Clinic in Cottage Grove to support pediatric dental health. The clinic provides both preventive and restorative dental care services to children kindergarten through 12th grade, at no cost.

The Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre Program in collaboration with Oregon Children’s Theatre will be hosting performances of "The Adventures of the Tartar Patrol" at Lane County schools this fall, teaching students grades K-3 important lessons about oral health in a fun, engaging way.
