Kaiser Permanente Northwest makes care more convenient than ever with new neighborhood clinic in the Pearl District

February 24, 2016

PORTLAND, Ore., February 24, 2016 – Kaiser Permanente Northwest is opening a neighborhood-based convenient care clinic in the Pearl District this fall that will be open to the community, even those who aren't Kaiser Permanente members.
The new clinic will be located at the Cosmopolitan on the Park building, 1130 NW 10th Ave., currently under construction. People will be able to walk in without an appointment, or schedule appointments online or by phone. It will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is the first in what will be a series of convenient care clinic openings. Future locations and opening dates have not yet been determined.

"We know people are looking for easier ways to take care of their health closer to home and work," said Rahul Rastogi, MD, chief operating officer of Kaiser Permanente Northwest's physician group, Northwest Permanente. "Our aim in welcoming the community into the Pearl District clinic – whether or not they belong to Kaiser Permanente – is to provide the neighborhood with high-quality, affordable care that's just a short walk or drive away."

People of all age groups, from babies to seniors, will be treated for common illnesses and injuries, such as colds, flu, strep throat and minor burns. Clinicians will also provide preventive wellness services, such as immunizations and blood pressure checks, and be able to write prescriptions. The convenient care clinic will be staffed by nurse practitioners or physician assistants who will be supported by primary care physicians accessible as needed via phone and video.

The price for patients who do not have Kaiser Permanente health care coverage will be competitive with other similar services. "We're inviting the community to try our services for the first time because we believe the Kaiser Permanente health care experience is second to none, and we want to give people a chance to sample it," Dr. Rastogi said.
