January 15, 2013 — Kaiser Permanente Northwest is entering into an agreement with Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center to serve Kaiser Permanente members in the Vancouver area. The agreement is designed to bring two industry-leading health care organizations together to better serve health needs in the Clark County area.

“The new, multiyear agreement between Legacy Salmon Creek and Kaiser Permanente is an excellent fit because we share a vision for delivering high-quality, affordable health care in Clark County and across all communities we serve,” said Thomas Hickey, MD, vice president and associate medical director for Northwest Permanente.

Pending regulatory approval of the Washington insurance commissioner, the new partnership-based agreement will take effect October 1, 2013. It establishes Legacy Salmon Creek as the Health Plan hospital for current and future Kaiser Permanente members in Clark County. Kaiser Permanente members will benefit from this new relationship through access to Legacy’s:

·        Excellent care outcomes supported by electronic medical records.

·        Board-certified pediatric emergency care.

·        Highest patient satisfaction scores in the region (routinely among the top five hospitals in Washington).

·        Family birth center.

·        Physician satisfaction ratings in the top 5 percent nationally.

·        Convenient location near the I-5 and I-205 interchange.

·        Easy patient and visitor parking.

“We are very pleased to partner with Kaiser Permanente,” said Jonathan Avery, chief administrative officer of Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. “We have been a leader in health and wellness in our region for nearly seven years, and Kaiser Permanente has long been known for its leading preventive care model. It’s a perfect match of highly regarded organizations with similar philosophies of providing the best care to all of Clark County.”

Kaiser Permanente’s approach to care has garnered notable recognition: Highest Member Satisfaction from J.D. Power and Associates among Northwest Health Plans, National Committee for Quality Assurance’s top-ranking Medicare and commercial health plans in Oregon and Washington, top grade for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group, top 10 hospital status in Washington and Oregon from U.S. News & World Report, and the only 5-Star Medicare plan in our service area from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
