Kaiser Permanente Clinicians Volunteer to Treat Uninsured at Free Clinic in Oregon City

May 6, 2013

May 3, 2013 — To help meet the significant need for medical care among the uninsured and underinsured in Clackamas County, a volunteer group of 18 Kaiser Permanente physicians, nurses, opticians, optometrists, dentists, and other clinicians will treat patients May 7, in partnership with the Clackamas Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) Founder’s Clinic.

WHAT: KP Night Out — urgent care extended clinic hours, staffed by 18 Kaiser Permanente clinician volunteers; treatment: general family medical, vision, dental services provided in a Medical Teams International mobile dental van (on site)
WHEN: Tuesday, May 7, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
WHERE: Clackamas Volunteers in Medicine Founder’s Clinic, 700 Molalla Ave., Oregon City

The first three KP Night Out events in Clark County highlighted a large medically underserved population in our region. The patients to be seen by Kaiser Permanente staff at this event would otherwise be put on a waiting list for services. At the Clark County events, dozens of patients have lined up 45 minutes early.

KP clinicians and leaders from the Founder’s Clinic will be available for interviews during the May 7 event.

The Clackamas Volunteers in Medicine Founder’s Clinic is a Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit partner clinic, using volunteer clinicians to provide care to the medically underserved. Last month, the Founder’s Clinic celebrated its first anniversary. In its first year, the clinic has served over 500 individuals without insurance or access to health care.
