March 20, 2015

(Portland, OR) – Health Share of Oregon has announced the appointment of John A. Sanders as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Tri-County Metro area coordinated care organization (CCO). Formerly the CIO for The Portland Clinic, Sanders brings more than 15 years’ experience in the development and management of advanced health technology solutions. Sanders will join Health Share on March 30.

As Health Share’s CIO, Sanders will be responsible for the strategic information technology leadership, including supporting transformational initiatives in care, risk and payment models and facilitating the CCO in building an integrated regional system of care. He will also direct the investment in pertinent technology and consolidating administrative services that will enable risk and payment transformation.

“The CIO is integral to the effectiveness, efficiency and security of the transactions necessary for Health Share to interact with the partners who serve our Oregon Health Plan members,” said Janet L. Meyer, CEO of Health Share. “John’s established track record of building and strengthening organizations, successfully applying technologies for maximum benefit and cultivating constructive relationships with a variety of partners will enable Health Share to further the technological efforts already underway in health transformation.”

“I’m excited to be part of an organization like Health Share, which is at the center of health care transformation,” said Sanders. “My work in health technology management spans the spectrum from clinical practice to traditional IT, across a range of inpatient and outpatient departments and systems.” His experience in environments ranging from stand-alone clinics to large multi-facility hospitals will be an asset at Health Share, a collective impact organization formed by 11 major health plans, hospital systems and public health organizations.

Prior to joining Health Share, Sanders was the CIO at The Portland Clinic, a large multi-specialty practice group with seven facilities across the Tri-County Metro region.
