February 20, 2013

February 20, 2013 – The Board of Directors of Health Share of Oregon has announced the appointment of Janet L. Meyer as Chief Executive Officer of Oregon’s largest Coordinated Care Organization (CCO). Meyer, who was previously the Chief Operating Officer for Tuality Health Alliance in Hillsboro, has served as Health Share’s Interim CEO since March 2012.

“Janet was selected for the interim leadership of Health Share a year ago,” says George J. Brown, M.D, Chairman of the Health Share Board of Directors. “She has done a marvelous job of crafting an organization from scratch with staff from member organizations and forming a high performing team. She has been an effective leader of individuals that came to her from many different organizational cultures, working together to meet tough deadlines and move health care transformation forward. Janet’s relationships with the Oregon Health Authority staff are excellent, she’s connected to our community, and she has a long record of understanding and working for the greater good of the community.”

In her interim role, Meyer has led the successful certification process and implementation of Health Share, which serves Medicaid members in Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington Counties. She has worked closely with the Board of Directors, which consists of stakeholders and representatives from the physical, behavioral and dental health care industries, on developing Health Share’s transformation plan for the Oregon Health Authority. Together, she and the board have developed strategic and tactical plans for risk transformation, alternate payment methodologies, administrative consolidation and model of care transformation.

“This is an exciting time to be part of the health care industry in Oregon,” said Meyer. “I’m honored that the board of directors is entrusting me to continue leading this effort at Health Share. I believe our success here in the Tri-County area will make Health Share a model for health care transformation nationally, as other cities struggle with budget cuts, unsustainable health care costs, and a growing Medicaid population.”

Meyer brings the unique perspective of having worked in many different roles in health care administration. Prior to her position leading Tuality Health Alliance, she was the Director of Operations at FamilyCare, Inc. in Portland. In addition to the delivery side of health care, she has also worked in provider relations and contracting for United HealthCare/MetLife in Portland and Aetna Health Plans in Denver, Colorado.

She has a B.S. in Public Administration from the University of Oregon, and a M.H.A. in Health & Hospital Administration from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
