Housecall Providers, a local healthcare nonprofit, has hired Gwen Schwartz as director of development. Schwartz brings with her a wealth of experience in marketing and fundraising for healthcare organizations across the Portland metropolitan area.
"We were thrilled to be able to find someone as qualified as Gwen for this vitally important position," said Terri Hobbs, executive director of Housecall Providers. "She not only has exactly the background we were looking for, but has already shown great enthusiasm for taking our fundraising efforts to a much higher level."
This newly created position brings a fulltime fundraising professional to the Portland area nonprofit for the first time in its history. “We’ve never had a fulltime development director and now, thanks to a grant from the Murdock Charitable Trust, we added the right person to our team,” Hobbs said. Murdock awarded a three-year grant to the nonprofit late last year.
Schwartz’s most recent employer was Care Partners (formerly Hospice & Palliative Care of Washington County). While there, she led the organization through a name and brand change as their director of development and marketing. Previously, she was employed for 10 years by Providence Health Foundations in a variety of development roles including special event coordinator for the Festival of Trees and the officer responsible for managing donor portfolios, employee giving and capital campaigns, as well as the annual giving program.
As director of development for Housecall Providers, Schwartz will supervise all fundraising activities, with a special focus on cultivating new donors, securing major gifts and creating a strong planned giving program. "I look forward to putting my variety of nonprofit management and fundraising experience to work for Housecall Providers,” she said.
