Rep. Julie Parrish (R - West Linn/Tualatin), Deputy House Republican Leader, submitted draft amendments today to House Bill 4154 to expedite the Secretary of State's authority to audit Cover Oregon. As KATU-TV reported, under current law the Secretary of State cannot start an audit of Cover Oregon until one year after the October 1, 2013 launch. The amendment would allow them to start right away.

"I appreciate Secretary Brown's willingness to step in and do an independent audit of Cover Oregon," Rep. Parrish said. "The amendment I am proposing to House Bill 4154 would allow her to begin an audit immediately, rather than having to wait nearly nine months before she can get involved. Oregonians are depending on us to ensure they get the health care coverage they deserve in a cost-efficient and transparent manner."

HB 4154, which received a Public Hearing yesterday, is scheduled for a Work Session on Monday, February 10 in the House Health Care Committee.
