Dr. Cedric R. Hayden recently won the Republican and Democratic Nomination for Oregon House District 7. Dr. Hayden was one of the owners of the Dental Care Organization Hayden Family Dentistry Group which had 66,000 members in 2009 when the company was sold to Advantage Dental. Dr. Hayden also started Caring Hand to Mouth a 501 (c)(3) non-profit in 2007 which now provides free dental care in rural Douglas and Lane County to individuals who are below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level, do not qualify for the Oregon Health Plan, and have no dental insurance.
The services are delivered in a transportable clinic, with a waiting room, two operatories, sterilization room and mechanical room. The dental clinic also has a hydraulic system that allows the clinic to unload itself and can be ready to provide dental care in less than 30 minutes upon arrival in a rural community. Caring Hand to Mouth also has a transportable dental clinic in Chuuk, Micronesia where volunteer dentists, dental hygienist, and dental assistants can provide free dental care to a community of 50,000 people with no private dentists.
