In Honor of Veterans Day Kaiser Permanente Opens its Doors to our Heroes

Kaiser Permanente Northwest will host career fair and offer job search and resume writing support for veterans
November 7, 2012

November 7, 2012 – With Oregon’s unemployment rate at 8.7 percent, many families continue to suffer from insecurity and financial hardship. These difficulties are even more striking for our veterans and their families returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. These heroes suffer from an unemployment rate of 9.7 percent nationally, with 11 percent living in poverty according to a 2011 report by the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee.

Kaiser Permanente Northwest (KPNW) is supporting the 100,000 Jobs Mission, a national private sector effort to employee 100,000 veterans returning home from service by 2020. In support of this goal and in honor of Veterans Day, KPNW will host a veteran’s resume writing workshop and career fair to culminate a year-long effort to recruit service men and women.

During the career fair veterans will have the opportunity to engage with hiring managers and organizational leaders. Representatives from various labor unions and KPNW departments — including Pharmacy, Inpatient Nursing, Ambulatory Nursing, Environmental Services, and Talent Acquisition — will also be on hand.

KPNW currently has more than 1,200 open positions and as many as 600 future positions at its new Westside Medical Center campus in Hillsboro. The organization is hopeful qualified veterans will fill many of these positions.
