HiMSS Oregon, January 28,2016, Patient Engagement Event – Improved Outcomes and Reduced Costs

January 13, 2016

Patient engagement - getting patients to actively participate in their own care - has been dubbed "the blockbuster drug of the 21st century." This dramatic paradigm shift has the power to reduce healthcare costs and improve care outcomes. It is a new era of providers and patients working together to improve health. Patients want to be engaged in their healthcare decision-making process, and those who are engaged as decision-makers in their care tend to be healthier and have better outcomes. By involving patients and members, healthcare organizations can improve in both quality and safety, which can ultimately lead to reduced costs. The panel will include a patient and leaders from Inpatient and Outpatient patient advisory programs. Bring your questions and concerns for an interactive Q&A session with the panel and attendees.

Panel Members:

  • Richard Gibson, MD, PhD, Research Director in Healthcare, Gartner, Inc.
  • Jenny Pedersen, Privacy and Compliance Officer, The Portland Clinic
  • Jonathan Bullock, Program Manager, Patient and Family Centered Care Programs, Kaiser Permanente Northwest region.
