HiMSS Oregon Chapter Announces: Nursing Informatics Boot Camp Early Bird Registration Fee for Lund Report Subscribers

Are you interested in Nursing Informatics? Consider increasing your knowledge by attending the two-day Nursing Informatics Boot Camp. Some attend to investigate if informatics is a potential career path. Others are focused on getting certified in Nursing Informatics, attaining contact hours for re-certification, relicensure or promotion. Want to network with others in your field? This is the place for you!

Join us for an intensive two-day course focusing on current informatics trends and issues in health. This two-day course will be held in Tacoma, WA, May 19 – May 20, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and includes content for nurses interested in becoming Certified Informatics Nurses. Other clinical professionals working in informatics may wish to take the course to become exposed to the course topics.

Conference Topics This course goes beyond the ANCC outline to discuss current trends and issues. Topics from the ANCC outline will be presented: I. Foundations of Practice II. System Design Life Cycle III. Data Management and Health Care Technology

Course Objectives

  • Discuss the scope and standards of nursing informatics practice
  • Describe professional practice, trends and issues within the informatics nurse role
  • Explore management and leadership issues affecting informatics in healthcare settings
  • Identify key concepts in informatics, information technology, information management, knowledge generation and data security
  • Consider human factors in relation to information technology systems
  • Describe models and theories associated with informatics
  • Delineate steps of the system life cycle as it applies to information technology in the health setting

Fourteen (14) Continuing Education Units [CEUs] are awarded to each student who completes the Course. Axxess Consult Inc. is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation. This program is approved for up to 14.5 continuing education (CE) hours for use in fulfilling the continuing education requirements of the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS) and the Certified Associate in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CAHIMS).
