August 19, 2013 - The Oregon and Washington Chapters of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) today announced that registration and the Call for Presenters is open for the Third Annual HIMSS NW Technology & Education Symposium. The conference will take place October 14 & 15, 2013 at the Nines Hotel, located at 525 SW Morrison, Portland, Oregon 97204. Focusing on a theme of “Connected Communities of Care,” the conference’s goal is to educate attendees on how technology is advancing the healthcare reform movement toward accountability across the public, private, provider, payer, and patient communities. The conference also aims to bring together health professionals to share their experiences, ideas, plans and breakthrough technologies. The conference will provide a forum to discuss ways to improve the health and care of patients and the public, focusing on what we know, what is underway, what is available, what has worked and what has not. The Fall NW Technology and Education Symposium Call for Presenters will be accepting applications through Friday September 6, 2013. Topics are welcomed that span the Health Information Technology landscape and focus on either providers or payer issues. Past conferences have included keynotes from Providence Health Plans, Intel Corporation Industry Affairs, and State Senators. As noted, the deadline for submissions is Friday, September 6th, 2013. Speaker notifications will be sent out by Monday, September 16 Registration is $125.00 for HIMSS members; $175.00 for non-members; $50.00 for Students with Valid ID.
