HiMSS Annual Spring Conference

February 16, 2016

Planning for the HIMSS Oregon Annual Spring Conference is underway, and we are seeking presenters for the two breakout session tracks: Population Health and Security. Each track will feature three separate sessions. The 2015 conference sold out weeks ahead of the event, and we aim to present compelling content once again for the healthcare IS and clinical attendees.

HIMSS Oregon relies on its presenters to provide top-notch educational sessions with a strong bias towards practical, pragmatic content. Session formats may incorporate lecture-style presentations, panels, interactive attendee discussions and others to support the session educational objectives.

The purpose of each session is to share good practices, innovative approaches to challenging workflows; vendor sales presentations and product demonstrations are not encouraged.

Contributors from all areas of healthcare are welcome to submit breakout session proposals.

For the Population Health breakout session track, we are seeking proposals that support the following areas:

  1. Population health from a financial/payer perspective
  2. Incorporating innovative technology products for population health
  3. Population health IT-based case studies

For the Security breakout session track, we are seeking proposals that support the following areas:

  1. Physical security
  2. Network security
  3. Cloud security

Please review the following guidelines before completing the proposal submission. The Submission deadline is March 8, 2016. Decisions will be made and communicated via email by March 14, 2016.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Submit only one form for each session, regardless of number of presenters. Presenters may submit as many proposals (each with its own form) as they wish.
  • The form must be completed and submitted via email so that we have exact information for each speaker and proposed session and to facilitate Program Committee communications.
  • Sessions will be 55 minutes in length, including time for questions. Oregon HIMSS’ most successful speakers assume basic knowledge and plunge right into their topic.
  • If you are a vendor, please note that Oregon HIMSS prefers that vendors be represented and products marketed in the exhibit area. However, we are interested in vendor proposals or presentations done in tandem with a client, with the client being the lead presenter. The emphasis of the presentation should be on planning, design, implementation and results, so attendees can learn from others’ business results. To maximize chances for selection, vendor proposals of all types should state clearly how the presentation will add value to the attendees’ experience. Oregon HIMSS sessions are not used as a platform for either a sales pitch or a product demonstration.
  • All presenters and co-presenters must register for the conference. This allows our program committee to have accurate registration and meal counts. Presenters and co-presenters are responsible for their own travel expenses. Accepted presentations will receive 1 (one) complimentary registration for the conference per session. This does not include optional social events. Session presenters and co-presenters may determine who will utilize the complimentary registration and note this on the registration form. Registration information will be available as the conference date nears.
