April 11, 2013
April 11, 2013 -- The Stand Against Racism™ is a movement of the YWCA with the goal of bringing people together from all walks of life to raise awareness that racism still exists. On April 26, along with other YWCAs across the country, YWCA Salem will create a “virtual human chain” of people who sign a card to declare they are taking a Stand. Cards can be written or drawn on with reflections about discrimination and race in our community. Cards will be available at the YWCA on April 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Signed cards will be displayed as a virtual human chain in YWCA’s windows through May 17. A Progressive Conversation on Racism in Oregon YWCA Salem will host leaders from Oregon Humanities Conversation Project to facilitate community discussions on racism, diversity, gender and censorship. Participation is free and open to everyone, but space is limited. Reserve your seat by calling (503) 581-9922. April 26
