July 11, 2013 -- Health Republic Insurance Company has hired Bernie Sims as Director of Sales. In this capacity, Sims will build the Broker and Sales channels for this newly-created CO-OP (Consumer Oriented and Operated Plan) Health Plan. Sims was most recently Sales Operations Manager at Pacific Interpreters, a national, medical interpretation services firm. He also served in several roles at Kaiser Permanente, including National Sales Operations Director, National CRM Project Director, and Broker Relations Manager for the Northwest Region. Sims has also held consulting roles with the Mercer and A. Foster Higgins benefits consulting firms in Seattle. “We are so excited that Bernie has joined Health Republic Insurance. His experience and relationships with the agents and brokers will allow him to educate this vital community about CO-OPs and the new world of health insurance,” said Dawn Bonder, CEO of Health Republic. Consumer Oriented and Operated Plans, CO-OPs, were authorized by the Affordable Care Act to ensure affordable, high-quality health insurance was available to all. Health Republic will be offering plans statewide, both on and off the health insurance exchange, Cover Oregon. “It is so exciting to have an opportunity to be on the front-line of healthcare reform.
