Hazelden and Healthworks Northwest to Combine Forces

November 5, 2012

November 5, 2012 — Hazelden, the national nonprofit addiction treatment provider, has acquired the assets of HealthWorks Northwest, a multidisciplinary practice in Beaverton.

"We very much look forward to combining our expertise and talents," said Hazelden CEO Mark Mishek in announcing the acquisition. "Together, we can expand the reach of our services and broaden our knowledge of evidence-based best practices, especially in addressing the national epidemic of opioid addiction, and bring hope, health and healing to more people."

"We are extremely excited about this combination, and feel there will be great benefit to patients of both organizations and to the community as a whole," said Drs. Paul Conti and Andy Mendenhall, founding partners of HealthWorks Northwest and newest members of the Hazelden team.

HealthWorks Northwest provides outpatient addiction treatment, Medication Assisted Treatment, Medication Assisted Relapse Prevention, pain management and psychiatric care for a wide range of mental health issues, including sexual trauma, PTSD and eating disorders.

The principal owners of HealthWorks are experts in psychiatric and addiction treatment. Dr. Conti works with patients with complex co-occurring psychiatric and chemical dependency conditions, and provides neuropsychiatric assessments and psychotherapy. He is a graduate of Stanford Medical School, and completed his residency at Stanford and Harvard. He served as Chief Resident in Psychiatry at Harvard. Dr. Conti moved to Oregon in 2007 and was named one of the state's Top Psychiatrists in 2008.

Dr. Mendenhall is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine and has pursued advanced training in spinal diagnostics and pain management. He is a graduate of Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Mendenhall moved to Newberg in 2004 and began work as a family medicine physician.

Hazelden currently operates a residential addiction treatment center in Springbrook, Oregon, with a specialty track in trauma and addiction, and is expanding to include a full continuum of outpatient services in the Portland market.
