Governor Brown to visit Jackson County

April 18, 2017

(Salem, OR) — Governor Brown will visit Jackson County on Tuesday and Wednesday. The trip will focus on local programs and partnerships that reflect Governor Brown’s top priorities in education and economic development, and will conclude with a visit to the Medford Rogue Rotary on Wednesday.

In the 2016 legislative session, Governor Brown worked with the Legislature to nearly double previous investments in Career Technical Education (CTE) and STEM. Students at Eagle Point High School will meet with Governor Brown to highlight the Manufacturing Certificate Program, as well as the CTE manufacturing lab. Governor Brown will also have the opportunity to tour a new greenhouse that has been funded by state Career Pathway Funding.

Governor Brown will also visit Phoenix Elementary School and tour its on-site health center operated by La Clinica, which provides preventative health services, primary medical care and mental health services for students in the district. La Clinica operates nine school-based health centers in three Jackson County school districts and provides dental health education and prevention at 19 area schools.

On Wednesday, Governor Brown will speak to the Medford Rogue Rotary about her legislative priorities in education, health care, and jobs. Governor Brown’s remarks will begin at 12:15 p.m.

Members of the media are welcome each event. To RSVP or for more information, contact press secretary Victoria Nguyen at 503-689-0248.
