WHY:
Many people throughout the country and right here in Salem, struggle to access oral healthcare when needed, due to barriers like finances, availability, time, or fears. Those barriers kept more than 150 million Americans from visiting a dentist last year. To help address these barriers, Aspen Dental launched the Healthy Mouth Movement. The community giving initiative delivers free dental care and oral health education directly to those who need it most, with a focus on serving veterans in 2016.

About the Healthy Mouth Movement
The Healthy Mouth Movement is a community-giving initiative from Aspen Dental doctors and practices, which provides free dental care for veterans. The Movement includes several components that bring care directly to vets: the MouthMobile, a mobile dental office on wheels, which has traveled to over 60 communities over the past two years to provide free care, and annual Day of Service events where hundreds of Aspen Dental practices across the country open their doors to vets, completely free of charge. Aspen Dental practices have provided more than $6.2 million in free dental care through the Healthy Mouth Movement since it launched in 2014.
