“We are very excited to host our event at this exquisite location. We not only are aiming to raise funds for cancer research, but we want to show our appreciation for our donors by giving them a night to remember. With all that World of Speed has to offer, we knew it is the perfect place for this meaningful event,” says Barbara Sanders, events director of American Cancer Society in Portland.

Located in Wilsonville, Ore., World of Speed’s mission is to educate and entertain through the celebration and preservation of motorsports. Through interactive exhibits and hands-on activities, World of Speed will offer visitors a behind-the-scenes view of the auto-racing world.

The museum will showcase up to 100 vehicles, a shop and a space for educational activities, which will highlight the professional opportunities available in the auto industry. World of Speed’s collection is comprised of race and performance cars from various venues, including NASCAR, land speed racing, drag racing, open wheel, sports cars and motorcycles.

“Working with the American Cancer Society has been such a great experience for us at World of Speed. To be able to partner with an organization that is doing so much for the cancer community is an honor, “ says Nick Apap, event manager.

About the American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers saving lives and fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. As the largest voluntary health organization, the Society's efforts have contributed to a 20 percent decline in cancer death rates in the U.S. since 1991, and a 50 percent drop in smoking rates. Thanks in part to our progress nearly 14 million Americans who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will celebrate more birthdays this year. In 2013, we celebrated our 100th birthday that also marked our ongoing dedication to finishing the fight against cancer. We're finding cures as the nation’s  largest private, not-for-profit investor in cancer research, ensuring people facing cancer have the help they need and continuing the fight for access to quality health care, lifesaving screenings, clean air, and more.
