Portland – Similar to previous years, FamilyCare Inc. (FamilyCare Health) has again launched a community-wide flu shot initiative for the 2015/2016 flu season. In addition to promoting flu prevention among its 130,000-plus members, the Coordinated Care Organization has scheduled 15 free flu shot clinics open to anyone; 14 are in the Portland tri-county area and one is in Hermiston, Oregon.
“Each year the flu hits children and the elderly the hardest,” says Jeff Heatherington, CEO and President of FamilyCare Health. “These individuals need access to preventive care, regardless of their insurance status. We’re proud to once again be able to give back to the community in this way.”
Free flu shot clinics have been a mainstay for FamilyCare Health, which has been serving Oregonians since 1984. At this year’s flu shot clinics, free flu vaccinations will be available to anyone over 6 years old. (Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.) Through its company-wide flu shot clinic, 162 FamilyCare Health employees were vaccinated at the end of September.
