FamilyCare Health Releases Mobile App For Members

New application puts engaging in healthcare at members' fingertips
November 30, 2015

PORTLAND, Ore. November 30, 2015 -- Today, FamilyCare Health entered the mobile health solutions market and announced the release of the FamilyCare App, available for free in the iTunes store or on Google Play.

Managing healthcare just got easier with the FamilyCare App. The app (suitable for Apple and Android devices) includes a colorful, easy to use interface; quick-access menus that allow members to search for a doctor, schedule appointments and rides, and find the closest urgent care center, integrated with Google Maps. Members can also view and store their digital id card and tap to call FamilyCare at any time for help. It's "health at your fingertips." Enhanced features will be added every few months, like new search features, links to community resources in the Tri County region and health activity trackers.

FamilyCare Health is one of the few Coordinated Care Organizations (CCO's) in Oregon that's taken this forward step into the mobile app health market. FamilyCare recognizes that smartphones are everywhere and offer a unique user-experience which websites can't always provide. Over 60% of Americans own a smartphone. Recent studies show that despite their lower incomes, high-need, high-cost Medicaid beneficiaries are increasingly 'plugged in.' An estimated 34% of individuals with an annual household income of less than $30,000 have smartphones--a number that holds steady across race, ethnicity, and level of education. The smartphone is revolutionizing how patients are engaged in the healthcare system, presenting information directly to consumers where and when they need it. FamilyCare has entered this transformation with the FamilyCare app to improve access to care and improve patient engagement in their health decisions.

"The FamilyCare App is taking wellness and convenience for our members to the next level," says Jeff Heatherington, CEO and President of FamilyCare Health. "We're providing a unique consumer experience and embracing smartphone technology as a means for our members to improve their healthcare outcomes. It's a win-win situation."
