Portland, Ore. -- May 13, 2016 -- FamilyCare Health is pleased to announce $532,186 in new grant awards for community based organizations across the tri-county region. These investments will increase access to behavioral health services for children and adults and increase the capacity to provide culturally specific services to Latinos in our communities.

Capital Projects:

ALBERTINA KERR: $150,000 for Completion of the Albertina Kerr Campus for Children's Mental Health in Gresham. The Children's Mental Health Campus will sustain and improve access to mental health services for children and their families

Two programs - the Imani Center (Afrocentric mental health and additions treatment) and the Benefits Entitlement Specialist Team (BEST) -- will be relocated to the expanded space. The relocation of these programs will in turn allow for projected growth in CCC Health Services and increase engagement of high-risk clients in primary care and behavioral health services.

Capacity Building:

COMMUNITY CAPACITATION CENTER: $58,649 for development of a new Spanish-language training state certified Community Health Worker (CHW) training curriculum on behalf of the Latino-Centric CHW Training Partnership. This group - El Programa Hispano Católico, Latino Network, Nuestra Comunidad Sana, and Northwest Family Services - will conduct the cultural adaptation and translation and co-facilitate the trainings.

LATINO NETWORK: $64,500 for an Early Childhood Community Health Worker (CHW) who will provide direct linkages between children and families enrolled in their programs and primary healthcare services. The CHW will provide health workshops for parents, developmental screenings, and referrals to services for families participating in Latino Network's early childhood programs.
