FamilyCare Health Donates $250,000 for Early Childhood Programs to United Way of the Columbia-Willamette

July 29, 2015

Portland – FamilyCare Health announced it has donated $250,000 to United Way of the Columbia-Willamette to support early childhood programs in the region. This investment underscores the important connection between health and the ability of children to succeed. As one of the largest Coordinated Care Organizations, FamilyCare is committed to improving the health of families.

“There is no better investment in our future then helping children thrive,” says Jeff Heatherington, CEO and President. “Children living in poverty need all of our support and we will continue to do our part in helping them and their families through strong connections with our community partners.”

FamilyCare is particularly interested in upstream activities that contribute to healthy families including quality healthcare, good nutrition, physical exercise, and housing supports. They also work with numerous non-profit agencies that provide care coordination to many families in need – a key component in building a strong foundation for health.

“United Way is thrilled that FamilyCare has chosen to partner with us in breaking the cycle of childhood poverty in our four-county region,” said Keith Thomajan, president and CEO of United Way of the Columbia-Willamette. “FamilyCare’s investment in this work is a true testament of their commitment to the health and well-being of our region’s kids and families. Together we can give every child in our region a fair chance.”
