FamilyCare Acts to Ensure Members’ Continuity of Care

December 20, 2017

Portland, Ore. –- December 20, 2017 – The deficient 2018 rates developed by OHA will cause FamilyCare to close on December 31. While talks are ongoing, FamilyCare has initiated discussions with OHA to begin transition planning for its members.

“Our primary concern is that our members care will continue uninterrupted,” said Jeff Heatherington, president and CEO of FamilyCare.

FamilyCare has taken the following steps to ensure a smooth transition of care for its members:

-       FamilyCare reached out to OHA to begin contingency planning for the transition of members.

-       FamilyCare has asked for but has not yet received a comprehensive list of the information OHA needs to ensure a smooth transition.

-       FamilyCare has already provided the OHA with an outline of all the information it could make available immediately.

FamilyCare is committed to cooperating with the OHA to ensure the continuity of care for its members. The first meeting to discuss contingency planning with the OHA is scheduled for this Friday.

“The priority for FamilyCare and our employees is the ongoing care of our members, especially those with critical needs,” said Heatherington. “To ensure that our members and providers have all the support they need, all of our employees will be working over the New Year’s weekend and into the following two weeks until the transition is completed.”
