Dr. Edward McEachen, MD, Joins PacificSource Health Plans As Medical Director For Medicare Programs

Former Chief Medical Officer for Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance brings 30 years of healthcare industry expertise and innovation

(BOISE, Idaho)— PacificSource Health Plans has hired Dr. Edward McEachern, one of the country’s foremost physician executives, as the company’s new Medical Director for Medicare programs.

In his new role, Dr. McEachern will set PacificSource’s clinical direction, manage operational, logistical, and clinical review activities for the Medicare health services department from its Boise office. Additionally, Dr. McEachern will work closely with PacificSource’s provider partners to strengthen relationships and improve population health management for members in Oregon, Idaho and Montana.

McEachern comes to PacificSource from Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance in Boise, where he was Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director of Operations. Prior to that, he helmed a venture capital fund that focused on healthcare and previously served as Chief Medical Officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Ohio.

An associate professor at the University of Utah School of Medicine and an assistant professor at Utah’s David Eccles School of Business, McEachern holds six patents, has authored seven books, has published 40 peer-reviewed articles, and has served as a healthcare consultant for the U.S. State Department and Peace Corps, among numerous other achievements.
