The Tuality Center for Geriatric Psychiatry in Forest Grove has a new medical director – Dr. Vimal M. Aga. His appointment was announced this week by Dr. John Coletti Jr., Tuality’s Vice President of Health Care Development.

“Dr. Aga is a respected clinician and we look forward to his leadership of this unique facility,” said Coletti in announcing Dr. Aga’s appointment.

The Tuality Center for Geriatric Psychiatry is an acute psychiatric facility serving patients age 60 and older. The program provides comprehensive inpatient mental health treatment in a positive and supportive environment.

Dr. Aga has worked as a psychiatrist at Tuality since January of 2011. “This is a great opportunity to move a great program forward,” Dr. Aga said of his appointment as medical director. “I don’t anticipate a lot of change because many things are working well at the center.’

Prior to joining Tuality, Dr. Aga worked as a psychiatrist at Oregon State Hospital’s Geriatric Psychiatry Program in Salem. He is board certified in Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry and completed his Psychiatry residency as well as Geriatric Psychiatry fellowship training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He holds a medical degree from Maharani Laxmibai Medical College (Bundelkhand University) in Jhansi, India and also completed a residency in Psychiatry in India.

“Dr. Aga has a  wealth of  experience in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of seniors with mental health issues such as depression; and for those suffering with cognitive disorders such as vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s,” said Laura M. Bryant, RN, MSN, program director at the Tuality Center for Geriatric Psychiatry. “He has an excellent knowledge of the medications that are best used with individuals suffering with these illnesses. I am honored to have the opportunity to work with and provide leadership with Dr. Aga.”
