CWA: Americans Worried About Their Health Care Can Breathe a Little Easier

July 28, 2017

Statement by Chris Shelton, president of the Communications Workers of America, on the Senate Republican leadership’s “skinny repeal” health care bill:

CWA commends the members of the U.S. Senate – 48 Democrats and three Republicans – who put the well-being of the American people front and center in their vote on the Republican leadership’s health care bill early this morning.

The bill would have stripped health care from 16 million people, raised health care costs for millions more and destabilized our health care system. Millions of Americans who have been worried about Congress taking away their health care can breathe a little easier. Now it’s time for lawmakers to make the changes and improvements our health care system needs.

CWA members, along with millions of allies and activists, will keep the pressure on all lawmakers to get health care right. Americans deserve no less.
