Cover Oregon Launches Spanish Language Ad Campaign

October 22, 2013

Cover Oregon rolled out its latest round of advertisements as part of a comprehensive campaign to educate Oregonians about the new online health insurance marketplace. These ads have been created specifically for Spanish-speaking audiences, and are part of a statewide marketing and outreach effort in partnership with community organizations, agents and business associations.

The newest TV “Bienvenidos a Cover Oregon,” and radio “La Salud Empieza Hoy,” ads aim to raise awareness about Cover Oregon and feature well-known Oregon singer songwriter Edna Vasquez, and a new song she wrote to celebrate the value of health care options. In addition, three education ads, “Asegurate,”  “Compara,” and “Ahorra” provide information on access to financial savings; free help available through community partners or agents; and the ability to make an apples-to-apples comparison of plans.

This suite of ads was developed by Portland-based ad agency NORTH, in partnership with Lara Media Services; it is part of a marketing strategy to reach Spanish-speaking Oregonians to let them know how individuals, families and small businesses can use Cover Oregon to compare and enroll in health insurance that fits their needs and budget. Ads will appear on television and radio stations across Oregon.

“Cover Oregon is a great resource for Latino businesses, families and individuals. This new set of ads helps us deepen our outreach and get people throughout the state the information they need to get the health insurance they want,” said Amy Fauver, Chief Communications Officer. “We know that more than 25 percent of Latinos in Oregon are uninsured, which means they don’t have access to consistent quality health care. We want to change that by helping people choose from a wide range of affordable plans, access financial savings and get help with their questions.”

Cover Oregon has developed a robust set of Spanish-language materials for community organizations conducting outreach, education and enrollment assistance with Latino populations across Oregon. Materials include brochures, FAQ’s, posters and a financial booklet, as well as a Spanish-language application.

“We are working in partnership with Cover Oregon to help people get the information and support they need to sign up for health insurance,” said Jackie Vargas, Cover Oregon Outreach Coordinator at Northwest Family Services. “This newest round of ads builds on the work we are doing out in the community and will help inform Latinos about how Cover Oregon can help them.”
