Clark County Screening of National Geographic's Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric

May 17, 2017

Washington Safe Alliance, a coalition of Clark County social services organizations including YWCA Clark County, Children's Home Society, Pride Foundation, Northwest Gender Alliance and Planned Parenthood, will host a special screening of National Geographic's Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric, at Kiggins Theater on Wednesday, May 17th at 5:00 pm. The event is open to the public and free of charge. This powerful documentary film produced by Katie Couric Media with National Geographic Studios and World of Wonder Productions "explores the rapidly evolving complexities of gender - from the moment we are born through our twilight years. To better understand this complex social and scientific issue, Couric crisscrossed the U.S. to talk with scientists, researchers, activists, authors and families to learn more about the role of genetics, brain chemistry and modern culture on gender fluidity."

It is our hope that this film ignites and empowers conversations about what it means to be gender fluid, gender non-binary, transgender, and the many forms of gender expression worldwide. Following the film, De Stewart, Vice-President PFLAG Southwest Washington, will lead a question and answer period. Kim Sogge, Pride Foundation Oregon; Phaedra Baldwin, PFLAG Southwest Washington; and Karen Kopulos, Children's Home Society will be available to answer questions from the audience.
