March 13, 2013 -- Central Oregon Pediatric Associates is bringing national speaker and author, Julie Metzger, RN, MN to Bend in April to moderate a 2-part lecture/talk series for pre-teen girls and their parents called “For Girls Only – A Heart to Heart Talk About Growing Up”.
The informal sessions are perfect for pre-teen girls and a parent or trusted adult to engage in issues related to their young girl's journey through adolescence. The presenter, Julie Metzger, RN, MN, has over 25 years experience working with teens offering a relaxed and fun environment that opens dialogue among families that can continue far after the event is over.
Parents and their child will learn to speak openly and comfortably about the sensitive topic of puberty. Teens are more comfortable engaging with parents on a subject that affect them deeply. Parents leave the event feeling confident they are supportive during this important time in the life of a teen.
Session discussions are geared to girls age 10 – 12, or 4th through 6th grades, and will include a young girl’s experience with developmental and emotional changes in puberty, how to navigate these changes individually and as a parent, plus social issues and behaviors related to sexuality.

DATES: Two-part Series, participants attend both sessions; Friday, April 12, 7pm – 9pm and Saturday, April 13, 10am – Noon
