CareOregon names a new chief network officer

March 10, 2017

Portland, Ore. —

CareOregon, which serves the largest number of Oregon Health Plan members in the state, announced today that Greg Morgan will become its chief network officer beginning March 27, 2017.

Morgan has more than 30 years’ experience in health care and government, primarily as a consultant.

“This is an important role because of the complexity of CareOregon’s network and the health and wellness needs of our more than 200,000 members,” said Eric C. Hunter, chief executive officer/president.

CareOregon, as a corporation, owns two Medicare plans, two Coordinated Care Organizations (Jackson Care Connect and Columbia Pacific), and a dental organization. It is also the largest physical health plan partnering with Health Share of Oregon, the state’s biggest CCO, and administers health services for independently owned Yamhill Community Care Organization.

“CareOregon’s more than 22 years of mission-based service to Oregon’s most vulnerable population was the key driver for me,” said Morgan. “Now, more than ever, it’s crucial to ensure health care for low-income populations and to help Oregonian’s overcome barriers to well-being, such as housing and food insecurity. I’ve long admired the innovative work CareOregon has done for years, and I’m pleased there’s an opportunity for me to join in these efforts.”

The role of chief network officer for CareOregon involves a wide variety of responsibilities, from provider relations and contracting to board support, business development, stakeholder alignment and performance assurance for all lines of business.

“Greg has an impressive background,” said Hunter. Greg launched and brought to scale consulting practices ranging from Accenture’s state and local government practice in the Pacific region, to the Portland office of Point B Consulting, to the established client services practice at Stockamp/Huron Healthcare, and has consulted with many health systems in Oregon. Greg also has been active with nonprofits in our community, including cofounding Oregon Mentors (now Institute for Youth Success), which impacts the lives of over 50,000 youths.

Greg graduated from Reed College, then received a Master of Science degree from University of Chicago. He is currently completing a master’s in Divinity from Earlham School of Religion.
