CareOregon Again Receives Top Workplace Honors

October 3, 2017

For the second consecutive year, CareOregon has been named among the 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon by Oregon Business Magazine and the Top Workplaces of 2017 listing by The Oregonian newspaper.

The health care organization was recognized as No. 20 among large nonprofits (50 or more employees) by Oregon Business. There are more than 30,000 nonprofits registered in Oregon. The Oregonian ranked CareOregon No. 14 among all employers in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Both honors were determined after surveys of employees.

Eric C. Hunter, CareOregon chief executive officer, said, “I’m very proud of our team. These honors come from their dedication and commitment to both our mission and our day-to-day efforts to improve the health of our members. In a time when the health care world is constantly changing, they are standing strong ensuring our members get the care, service and compassion they deserve.”

CareOregon provides managed health care services to about 200,000 Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) members through its association with four Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs) and through two Medicare Advantage plans and a dental care plan. It is affiliated with Health Share of Oregon in the Portland Metro area, Columbia Pacific CCO on the North Coast and Jackson Care Connect in Jackson County. It provides back office services (claims, customer service, etc.) for Yamhill Community Care, which also was recognized as a Best Nonprofit to Work For in Oregon. CareOregon employs approximately 800 employees, the majority in the Portland area, with some on the coast and in Jackson County.
