PORTLAND, Ore., Jan 12, 2017 – Care Essentials by Kaiser Permanente is now offering convenient neighborhood care in the Pearl District to both Kaiser Permanente members and nonmembers.

"People want easy, convenient ways to take care of their health close to home and work," said Andy McCulloch, president, Northwest, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals. "Care Essentials is designed to meet that need with a medical clinic that covers the basics, right in the neighborhood."

A neighborhood housewarming to celebrate the new clinic in the Cosmopolitan on the Park building, 1035 NW Northrup St., will be held Friday, January 13, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Care Essentials is open every day: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both members and nonmembers will be able to make appointments online at careessentials.org, by calling 1-855-235-0491 (TTY: 711), or by stopping by in person. Members can also make appointments on kp.org or by calling Membership Services (1-800-813-2000).

Nurse practitioners or physician assistants will provide nonemergency health care services. They can treat minor illnesses and conditions such as colds, flu, strep throat, pink eye, rashes, or urinary tract infections, and minor injuries such as minor burns and abrasions or splinter removals. Clinicians will also provide preventive services and checkups, including sports physicals.

For people who are not Kaiser Permanente members, the charge for most visits will be $125. Members pay only their office visit cost share.

Additional Care Essentials by Kaiser Permanente are planned for neighborhoods throughout the region. New locations have not yet been announced.
