September 11, 2013 -- Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) is sponsoring a health care information session for small business owners and their staff who have questions about the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. The event will take place on Monday, September 16, 2013, from 8:30am to 10:00am at the Beaverton Community Center,12350 SW 5th Street, Suite 100 in Beaverton, Oregon.
“Within the Affordable Care Act there are several provisions that will help lower premium costs and increase access to health insurance for the people who are self-employed and for the employees of small businesses,” said Bonamici. “This event will help them understand how to access these benefits and provide answers to any questions they may have before enrollment begins on October 1st.”
The event is open to the public. Presentations by Cover Oregon, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Internal Revenue Service, and the Small Business Administration will provide participants with information about new coverage options for employers and employees, the Small Business Healthcare Tax Credit, and the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP), a new program that simplifies the process of buying health coverage for small businesses.
