Blue Zones Founder Dan Buettner to Keynote Virginia Garcia Health Symposium

May 8, 2014

National Geographic writer Dan Buettner, founder of Blue Zones, will be the keynote speaker at the 2014 Virginia Garcia Health Symposium on Tuesday, May 13th.

Buettner has traveled the globe, uncovering the best strategies for longevity and happiness. As he has made cultural connections, he has identified Blue Zones - places that have the greatest life expectancy and where more people reach age 100 than anywhere else. At the 2014 Virginia Garcia Health Symposium, Buettner will share insights from his travels and research and discuss what Blue Zones could mean for health care in Oregon.

Through Blue Zones, Buettner works directly with communities around the country to implement long-term, evidence-backed policies and interventions that optimize environments and nudge people towards healthier choices throughout their day.

After Buettner’s presentation, a panel of regional experts will respond to Dan's vision, exploring Oregon’s path to becoming a healthier state.
