New Center Will Combine Data, Analytics, Advisory Services and Research for All U.S. Healthcare Stakeholders to Adapt to New Payment and Delivery Models
April 25, 2014

Avalere Health announced today that it is launching the Center for Payment & Delivery InnovationTM. The Center’s goal is to assist all stakeholders and organizations in improving their understanding of the significant changes in payment and delivery that are reshaping the U.S. health system. The Center will help organizations prepare for and take action to adapt their business models and practices to fulfill the promise of delivering greater value through better health outcomes and lower costs.

Avalere’s 360-degree perspective and relationships with a broad cross section of health plans and managed care companies, health systems and providers, life sciences companies, industry associations and other healthcare organizations enable the company to deliver distinct insights and national thought leadership on the most critical issues facing the U.S. health system.

Avalere is also pleased to announce the appointment of Joshua Seidman, PhD, to lead the Center. Dr. Seidman’s experience with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, where he was responsible for policy development around the meaningful use of electronic health records and e-quality measures, National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA), and extensive engagement with other leading healthcare organizations brings deep practical, real world expertise to the Center.

“We’re at a unique moment in the evolution of the American healthcare system, and Avalere’s new Center will help all stakeholders understand the imperatives and actions necessary to deliver value-based healthcare,” said Avalere CEO Dan Mendelson. “Josh’s practical knowledge of delivery system transformation, health IT and quality will be of great value to our customers and other organizations that understand the need to change how healthcare is delivered and paid for in the U.S.”

The Center will pursue an innovative research agenda that examines the external forces impacting providers and health plans, such as changing reimbursement models, evolving health information exchange infrastructure, performance and quality measurement, accountable care and population health, and trends in patient engagement and consumerism.

“Avalere has been a leading voice in healthcare analysis and strategy and is respected for its relentless commitment to data, objectivity, and innovative strategic guidance,” said Dr. Seidman. “It’s an exciting time to join Avalere to expand the firm’s capabilities in this arena and show leadership in advancing the healthcare delivery system reforms and payment innovation models needed to turn the promise of health reform into a reality.”
