Andrew McCulloch, President of Kaiser Permanente Hospitals and Health Plan of The Northwest since 2006, announced his retirement effective July 2017.

Under McCulloch’s leadership, Kaiser Permanente has achieved market leadership, in quality, service and affordability including:

  • Highest rated health plan by National Committee on Quality Assurance.
  • Only Pacific Northwest Medicare 5-star plan since 2011.
  • Pacific Northwest leader in member satisfaction as measured by J.D. Power member health plan study.
  • Among most affordable health plan based on individual plan pricing (OR/WA health insurance exchanges).

McCulloch’s tenure is also marked by over $1.1 billion in capital improvements including 11 new medical and dental offices and the construction of the Kaiser Permanente Westside Medical Center.  Since 2006 Kaiser Permanente membership has grown to 575,000 medical members and 260,000 dental members.

From 2006 to 2017 McCulloch led Kaiser Permanente to invest over $1 billion in community benefit and health.  Significant recent grants included $4 million to build medically supported housing for Portland’s homeless and over 1,254 scholarships for high school and college students pursuing health professional careers.
