January 15, 2016

Portland, Ore.—Adventist Health Medical Group is pleased to announce Ralph Prows, MD, as chief medical officer effective January 18, 2016. Prows will provide vision, direction and education to the 133 providers who deliver exceptional care to patients served by Adventist Health’s 34 clinics in the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area.

Dr. Prows has more than 25 years of medical experience, serving as a board certified internal medicine physician and as an experienced leader and administrator for both clinic systems and health plans. He earned a medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine from Oschner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans.

Dr. Prows is very familiar with the Portland market, having served as the president and chief executive officer for Oregon’s Health CO-OP. He has also worked as the chief medical officer for The Regence Group where he was responsible for the strategy and execution of medical quality and clinical care. He was the first full-time medical director for The Corvallis Clinic where he later served as chief executive officer. Prows comes most recently from New Orleans where he was president and CEO of the Ochsner Health Network, a clinically integrated network of hospitals and health systems in the Gulf South.

“As our medical group continues to expand into new communities and to include additional specialties, we’re pleased to welcome Dr. Prows to the team,” says Dorane Brower, vice president for integrated physician and health plan services for Adventist Health. “He has the right mix of clinical and health plan experience to ensure continued quality and value to our patients.”
