October 11, 2012 -- Adventist Health was named among the Healthiest Employers of Oregon today. The health system was ranked number three among Oregon companies of 1,500 employees or larger for implementing innovative employee wellness initiatives.
“We are honored to be recognized by the Portland Business Journal for our commitment to creating a healthy workforce,” states Ed Hoover, manager of Wellness Services at Adventist Medical Center. “We believe that healthy employees deliver better healthcare. More than 90 percent of our 2,000 employees are involved in our LivingWell Engaged culture, which includes biometric screenings, online wellness surveys, wellness coaching and an array of classes and activities.”
Employees are invited to participate in wellness assessments, pursue a personal health improvement program, track health/fitness programs, obtain up-to-date information on health issues and medical conditions and explore the wide array of other online tools designed to achieve and maintain optimal health. The health system is collaborating with other local employers to replicate the hospital’s LivingWell Engaged program in an effort to improve the health of their workforce and a build healthy community.
