Acumentra Health to Affiliate with Utah-based HealthInsight

March 9, 2016

Portland, Ore. — March 9, 2016 – Acumentra Health today announced plans for a corporate affiliation with HealthInsight Management Corporation, based in Salt Lake City. This affiliation (not a merger) enables the two organizations to operate as an integrated system while remaining independently governed. Completion of the affiliation process is expected to take several months.

“We’re excited to build on the strengths and experience of our respective organizations as we continue our work to improve health care quality in Oregon,” said Jon Mitchell, president and CEO of Acumentra Health. “HealthInsight and Acumentra Health have more than six decades of combined experience in quality improvement and innovation. Together, we’ll draw on our collective resources, expertise, and strong relationships with health care providers, patients, and other partners to advance our mission of transforming health care.”

Portland-based Acumentra Health has provided health care quality improvement (QI) and utilization review services across the spectrum of care for more than 30 years. The company works with Oregon providers, health systems, and health plans to ensure that Oregonians receive safe, cost-effective, and evidence-based care that meets high professional standards.

HealthInsight Management Corporation oversees separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporations in Utah, Nevada, and New Mexico that are similar to Acumentra Health in scope and mission. HealthInsight serves as the Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) for Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, and Utah, subcontracting with Acumentra Health to conduct Oregon-based QI work for the Medicare program.

Under the affiliation agreement, Acumentra Health will continue to operate as a separate 501(c)(3) organization, maintaining its Oregon staff and existing contractual relationships with state and national health care-related entities, as well as its collaborative agreements with health care providers throughout Oregon. Acumentra Health’s Board of Trustees will continue to oversee the company’s business affairs, subject to certain express reserved powers of HealthInsight.

Acumentra Health has filed an application to use the name “HealthInsight Oregon” for marketing and promotional purposes at a future date.

“This affiliation will strengthen our organizations’ QI leadership across our four-state western region,” said Marc Bennett, president and CEO of HealthInsight. “Combining our similar and complementary strengths will create new opportunities to grow our business and conduct innovative QI projects in Oregon.”
