AAF Releases Monthly Analysis of ACA Enrollment Numbers

February 12, 2014

The American Action Forum (@AAF) today released its monthly analysis of the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) individual exchange enrollment numbers for the month of January. According to the Administration, through the month of January there were 3,299,500 total enrollees nationally.  AAF’s analysis includes a comparison of the actual enrollment numbers to three benchmarks: the HHS’s own goals prior to October 1st, Medicare Part D’s enrollment trajectory, and a steady enrollment trajectory. The analysis also includes a further examination of the data including a breakdown of age group enrollment, as well as plan-level choice (platinum, gold, silver, or bronze).

The findings include that January saw the highest ACA monthly enrollment to this point and a considerable uptick from December.  However, the administration is still behind on all three possible trend lines with just two months left of open-enrollment. At this pace, the administration will not meet their public goal of seven million enrollees by the end of March 2014.
