2nd Annual Topics in Pediatric Emergency and Critical Care Medicine CME Conference

March 19, 2013 — The 2nd Annual Topics in Pediatric Emergency and Critical Care Medicine CME conference will be hosted by Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel at the Multnomah Athletic Club on Thursday, April 11, 2013. The conference is designed to provide pediatricians, family practice physicians, emergency medicine physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants with the latest information on pediatric emergency and critical care. Participants will gain practical knowledge from expert providers in the care of acutely ill and injured children. 

The conference features talks on the following areas:

  • Pediatric trauma
  • Hypothermia protocol in pediatric patients
  • Disaster medicine
  • Emergency pediatric neurology
  • Pediatric burn management
  • ECMO in pediatric patients
  • Technology in health care
  • Pediatric sepsis
  • Pre-hospital/transport opportunities

Desired outcomes of the conference are:

  • Increase knowledge of evidence-based evaluation and management of pediatric trauma and disaster management in the pre-hospital, emergency department and critical care settings
  • Increase utilization of established and novel application of technology in pediatric emergency and critical care
  • Increase awareness of evidence-based management of pediatric encephalitis and seizures
  • Increase knowledge of evidence-based patient management recommendations to achieve the therapy goals for the pediatric patients with sepsis
  • Increase utilization of the evidence-based guidelines for ECMO utilization in children
  • Increase knowledge of evidenced-based evaluation and management of induced hypothermia after cardiac arrest in the pediatric patient
