2 New Cases Of Measles In Oregon Since Discovery Of PDX Case

The Oregon Health Authority announced Saturday that there are two new cases of measles in the area after a person with the disease passed through the Portland International Airport earlier this month.

Health officials say a Lane County resident and a visitor to Washington County have been diagnosed with measles. Both people were on the same Delta flight that landed in Portland from Amsterdam on Oct. 12.

None of the cases have been fully vaccinated against measles.

Health officials are urging people to call a health care provider or urgent care center if they think they may have been exposed to measles or are experiencing symptoms, such as fever, cough, red eyes or a rash.

This is in an effort to avoid exposing others to the disease in waiting areas.

The announcement from Multnomah County comes toward the end of a historic year for measles cases in the Northwest and across the country. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention counted at least 1,250 cases, including 86 cases in Washington. Oregon has seen a total of 27 cases, including these two new cases.

In the past few weeks, people may have been exposed to the disease in a variety of places in the region. Here are the list of exposure sites:
