Regence Lobbyist Joins Providence

May 20, 2010 -- Michael Becker is now director of advocacy and government affairs for Providence Health and Services, having left a similar position at Regence BlueCross BlueShield where he spent the past nine years.

“It was purely my own choice,” said Becker, who’s working for the Providence system, not its health plan. “It was a great opportunity.”

 

Jackie Cowsill joins OEBB

May 12, 2010 -- The Oregon Educators Benefit Board has hired a new communications coordinator, Jackie Cowsill.

Before joining OEBB, Cowsill spent five years working for the Eugene School District as manager of benefits and human resources information systems.

Earlier Cowsill was the benefits administrator for a hospital in southern California. She earned her BFA in media arts from the University of Arizona.

OMA Announces Executive Committee

May 5, 2010 -- The Oregon Medical Association has a new executive committee led by its president, Dr. John Evans III.
 
Other members include: Dr. Carla McKelvey, president-elect; Dr. William “Bud” Pierce, vice president; Dr. Peter Bernardo, immediate past president, and Dr. Mark Maddox, secretary-treasurer.
 
Drs. Nancy Hutnak and David Shute are members at large; Beth Irish is the OMA Alliance president; Dr. Mary McCarthy is speaker of the house, and Dr. Frances Biagioli, vice speaker of the house

 

Doernbecher Foundation Elects New Board

April 14, 2010 -- Ronald H. Brake has been elected president of the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation. The director of sales for Moonstruck Chocolate Co., he served as board president from 1998 to 2000.
