Columbia Pacific Coordinated Care Organization Receives State Approval

July 31, 2012 -- The application of Columbia Pacific Coordinated Care Organization to be a Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) has been approved by the Oregon Health Authority. Under terms of the agreement, Columbia Pacific will begin coordinating services to Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members effective September 1, 2012, in Columbia, Clatsop and Tillamook counties and part of Douglas County.

Women Get Preventive Care with No Cost-Sharing Beginning Aug. 1

July 26, 2012 -- One of the popular early reforms under the Affordable Care Act included coverage for preventive services with no co-pays, deductibles or coinsurance. On Aug. 1, this benefit expands to cover additional preventive services for women.“Women deserve meaningful health coverage,” said Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler. “Eliminating cost-sharing for early, preventive care increases the likelihood that women could access medical services early, before conditions become more serious.”

Healthcare Law Saves People in Oregon $44.4 Million on Prescription Drugs

July 25, 2012 -- As a result of the Affordable Care Act, people with Medicare in Oregon have saved $44,372,738 on prescription drugs since the law was enacted. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) also released data today showing that in the first half of 2012, 12,053 with Medicare in Oregon saved a total of $6,646,011 on prescription drugs in “donut hole” coverage gap for an average of $551 in savings this year.Nationwide, over 5.2 million seniors and people with disabilities have saved over $3.9 billion on prescription drugs since the law was enacted.

COPA Expands to Meet Patient Growth and Latest Technological Advancements

July 17, 2012 -- Central Oregon Pediatric Associates [COPA] is undertaking a major building expansion and remodel at its east Bend location, beginning July 18. The practice remains open for patients and operating at normal capacity, seven days a week, during the remodel. Work is expected to be complete by late October. COPA’s other two locations, on Bend’s west side and in Redmond, are not affected by the construction.
