Nike Doernbecher Freestyle X collection available to public for first time Saturday

The Nike Doernbecher Freestyle X collection, seven one-of-a-kind shoes and matching apparel items, will be available for purchase for the first time. OHSU Doernbecher patient-designers will be on hand to launch their designs, sign autographs and share their inspiring stories of triumph over serious illness. This year's patient-designers include:

Dana Braner, M.D., OHSU Doernbecher vice chairman of pediatrics, will be on hand to discuss how funds raised through this exceptional program have helped to expand pioneering research, support clinical care, purchase state-of-the-art equipment, recruit new experts and help cover the cost of care for families most in need.

WHERE

Nike Portland, 638 S.W. 5th Ave. at Morrison St.

WHY

All proceeds from the sale of Doernbecher Freestyle shoes and apparel benefit health care and research programs at OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital. To date, Doernbecher Freestyle has raised nearly $8 million.

DETAILS

Nike Doernbecher Freestyle is a unique partnership between Nike and OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital that each year raises significant funds for OHSU Doernbecher while giving courageous young patients a unique and empowering form of self-expression. Nike generously donates all proceeds from nationwide Freestyle sales to OHSU Doernbecher.

This year's designers received care form OHSU Doernbecher specialists in cancer, nephrology, neurosurgery, cystic fibrosis, hemophilia and child and adolescent psychiatry.
