Bridgeway is a new kind of healthcare organization providing holistic treatment through addiction recovery, problem gambling treatment, mental health therapy, and primary medical care.

 

Position Purpose

Substance Abuse Counselors build an alliance with clients by providing education and motivation to support them in making positive changes in their lives and reducing the negative consequences associated with substance use and abuse. Substance Abuse Counselors provide client-centered care utilizing evidence-based and trauma-informed services. They use motivational interviewing techniques to establish therapeutic rapport and facilitate active engagement in services. They conduct assessment interviews using the ASAM and DSM-5; they work collaboratively and provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address identified treatment and recovery goals. They facilitate evidenced-based groups and conduct individual counseling sessions.

Compensation

  • Compensation will depend on experience and credentials.
  • An additional stipend is available for Spanish/English bilingual employees.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Requires an Associate Degree or higher in Human Services or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • In addition to formal education, the qualified candidate generally has at least one to three years of drug & alcohol addiction counseling experience.
  • CADC I or higher required or in candidacy status with the ability to obtain a CADC certification with MHACBO within 6 months.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong computer and time management skills are required to work effectively.
  • An advanced understanding of ASAM PPC-2R and DSM-5 is required.
  • An intermediate understanding of Oregon Administrative Rules is preferred.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check.
